The intellectual thrust of the event was provided by John Day , a veteran of the early ARPANET , and author of one of the most brilliant books on computer networking ever written. The workshop was extremely educational, and I would like to share a few of the highlights, to the best of my own meagre understanding. There are no original stone tablets on which these specifications were handed down from the mountain: it is an entirely man-made networking world. Rather than great flow isolation but weak multiplexing gain, we instead get weak flow isolation and great multiplexing gain. What we want is both to be great!
