Addresses : Department of Mechanical Engineering, Govt. Abstract : The objective of this paper is to present the concept of productivity, factors affecting productivity and techniques of productivity improvement. Productivity is an ability to do better today than yesterday and continuously. Effectively using the knowledge in manufacturing processes can substantially improve the efficiency and productivity.
INCREASING THE PRODUCTIVITY BY USING WORK STUDY IN A MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY-LITERATURE REVIEW
Productivity has been measured using different parameters by different groups in order to define and quantify this element. It has been described in human resources, economic theory, industrial output and in popular media. This literature review will summarise a range of these methods, in order to select a set of methods that may be most suitable for the accurate measurement of productivity changes in an individual. Currently, no reliable or universally agreed upon set of measures is available to measure productivity changes in an individual. It is important to define and develop a set of these measures to quantify these productivity changes, otherwise the effectiveness or lack of effectiveness of a professional development or training program cannot be quantified or established.
Reinventing construction is the key to improving productivity. This reinvention refers to not only inventing advanced materials and equipment but also developing new operating systems for construction projects. Inadequate application of advanced techniques impedes the operating system.
