Critical analysis essay on juno

Before Juno has told her dad and Bren that she is pregnant, they confront her at dinner with questions about why she's been acting strange. Her dad asks her about why she's been moving the furniture around she brought the chair that she got pregnant in to Bleeker's front lawn to sit in while she broke the news. Then, Bren pointedly asks Juno, "Did you barf in my urn? While Juno denies it to Bren's face, the viewer sees a flashback of Juno throwing up in the urn, a sign of morning sickness. Thus, while we know that Juno is pregnant and lying about vomiting in the urn , her parents have no idea, which creates a dramatic irony. While Juno, Leah, and Juno's parents know that Bleeker is the father of Juno's child, they keep it a secret from the rest of their community.

The Movie Review: 'Juno' - The Atlantic

It is a domestic comedy with anarchic elements. In the film, you get to follow Juno MacGuff, a years-old girl, as her life changes when she finds out that she is pregnant. The most obvious being the teen pregnancy, but other topics such as the curiosity of sex among teenagers, the constant questioning of whether abortion is okay or not comes along with it. The main plot of the movie touches themes common to family life. The more or less ordinary family life is displayed with a lot of humor. The questioning of stereotypes and prejudices play a big role in this film, as do contrasts.

Juno is based on the story of a young sixteen-year-old girl finding herself pregnant. In this movie maturity and immaturity are combined in shocking ways. The moral of this film seems to run along the lines of; make your decisions wisely and to be protected if pre-marital sex is your choice. However, being unprotected especially at such a young age and not being ready for the outcome that is likely to occur was irresponsible and showed off her immorality. Juno also shows her immaturity a lot through her dialogue using sarcasm and witty comebacks to produce her character.
